Spring has arrived at last.

The beginning of Spring arrived with snow showers and a very chilly wind. Sunday was particularly cold but unfolded with a clear blue sky which highlighted the snowy mountains around Loch Ness.

Red squirrels enjoy fine dining

The native red squirrels are abundant in the local woodland although they are more easily spotted at the bird/squirrel tables in nearby gardens. They still have their noticeable long ear tufts which kept them warm in the colder Winter weather but they will be soon be shedding them for a warmer Springtime. The young are born during May/June and are good fun to watch running around the area.

Day trip to Nairn beach

Only about one hours drive away from Camerons Cottage is the seaside town of Nairn on the east coast. It has a wonderful long white clean sandy beach and it is very relaxing to walk along, just listening to the waves pounding on the shore and the seagulls calling overhead. On a clear day like today you can see across to the Black Isle with its snow capped mountains. Facing the beach there is a lovely large open park with paths and plenty of benches and picnic areas to relax in highlighted with colourful seasonal flowers.

Fire in the Tea Room !

The wood burning fire in the Tea Room and Farm Shop on Glenlia Farm has now been constructed and is in operation. It is very cosy and warm and a welcoming focal point for the business.
