Fruits of the forest

About this time of the year the hazel nuts ripen on the plentiful hazel trees in the area. Great fun to watch the acrobatic red squirrels climb out on a branch as far as they can and grab the hazel nuts. They often retreat to somewhere quieter and either enjoy their feast or bury them for the winter. They also enjoy the nuts of the beech trees. This does not stop them from visiting the various peanut feeders in gardens however.

Dores Bay

Enjoyed a stroll along Dores beach at the eastern end of Loch Ness and saw the Fingal activity barge moored in the bay. Some of the crew and passengers were in the local Dores Inn for refreshments before going back along the loch to Fort Augustus.

Boats of all different shapes and sizes are enjoying life on the water of famous Loch Ness. The weather has been very changeable and is never boring. Today is rather misty which just adds to the mystery.
