Beautiful late Summer weather with clear blue sky and warm, balmy temperatures here at Loch Ness. Wonderful red sky at night and visible star constellations. Warmest part of the U.K.

Day trip to The Black Isle.
Enjoy a good day trip from Camerons Cottage to the Black Isle, about a one hour drive away across the Kessock Bridge north. Take a signposted right turn and journey on to the village of Rosemarkie and visit the Fairy Glen Nature Reserve. Take a leisurely stroll through the woods, alongside the babbling stream, looking at the wonderful wild flowers and listening to the various bird calls, until you reach the Lower Waterfall. A more strenuous climb will take you up to the double Upper Waterfall.

After the walk drive back to Chanonry Point opposite Fort George and sit at the picnic tables for lunch. If you get there as the high tide is just coming in then you may see the pod of Bottlenose Dolphins that inhabit the waters of the Moray Firth and dine on the salmon that come in on the high tide.......so do check the tide times as they are well worth seeing.

Red Kite spotted
Rare red kite spotted gliding gracefully over Loch Ness this afternoon before disappearing into the clouds. Snow showers today but now brightening up.
The red kite has a very distinctive forked tail.

Spring at last
The snow melt and heavy rain caused Loch Ness to become very high. Lower Foyers river burst its banks both sides as well as many other rivers in the area. Loch Oich had trouble with a weir collapsing and breaching the Caledonian Canal and repair work will take a lot of money and time. Large boulders came loose and blocked the A82 causing this main road between Inverness and Fort William to be closed for repair all weekend.....nice and quiet for us. Today the weather is beautiful and the sun is shining and the sky is blue......real Spring like and hopefully the worst is now behind us.
